Today is one of my last days of vacation. I’m looking to get the maximum amount of feeling good out of the time I have left. I’m going to use these for brain chemicals, and the behaviors that go with them, to accomplish that.
Looking at this list, I would love to know what your favorite is.
Today, let us remember to focus on enjoying the journey. The goal is certainly worth keeping in mind, but 80% of the time will be spent on the journey. This is actually a conservative estimate. If this is the case, we owe it to ourselves to find a way to have as much fun during the process. After all, it doesn’t make much sense to be happy only 20% of the time?
How do we accomplish this goal? Two words – focus and adjustment. We can adjust how we go about accomplishing the goal. Say we are trying to get for, but hate going to the gym. We can adjust. Maybe start going for hikes? Dusting off that bicycle in the garage. Maybe there is a pool we couldswim at? The point is all of these will help us start getting fit and be a lot more enjoyable.
What happens when you can’t adjust? Maybe you need to get better at saving, but you really miss having Amazon visit your house more than your family? Switch your focus. Instead of being sad that you no longer get packages, focus on how good you will feel when you will get your financial situation in order. Focus on your bank account not draining as quickly.
Here is another thing to ponder. The more we enjoy the journey, the more likely we are to reach the destination! That should be motivation enough. Share any tips you have on enjoyingthe journey in the comments below!
It seems everyone is tired these days. Energy drinks are everywhere. What we may not realize is that our diet and behaviors may be draining our energy.
Look at the 2 lists above. One is filled with things that drain your energy. Try to eliminate, or at least limit, as many as you can. The other is filled with things that can energize our mind, bodies and spirits. Do more of those. All 3 areas must be taken care of. You could drink a case of energy drinks, but if your spirit is depleted, you will still feel drained.
Feel free to share your tips for staying energized.
This past Thursday, August 1st, I took my lady to my favorite place, The Wisconsin State Fair. While there, I informed her we were going to film a video for my YouTube channel. Which we did…kind of. Little did she know, I was actually filming me asking her to marry me!
I have went to the Wisconsin State Fair every year since 1975, and every day since 1996. It is my favorite place to go, so why not ask my favorite person to marry me right there, on top of the Ferris wheel? Our story even made the news as well as local radio! Did she say yes? Click the link below to watch the video on my YouTube channel and see the very moment yourself!
Today is my birthday! Celebrate with me by using one of the many wonderful tools and strategies we discussed on this site. Spend some time on self-care, pursue your purpose, or best of all, spend at least 5 minutes in total gratitude. Feel free to look back and pick something that speaks to you.
Feel free to share whatever you pick and what you plan to do. One of the greatest gifts I receive is the engagement I get from the community here. I look forward to hearing from as many of you as I can. Spend some time with those you love doing what you love as you celebrate the birth of this soon to be best-selling author.
Did you ever wonder why they call it a rat race? Who really wants to be a rat? I certainly don’t. Today, whatever day you are reading this, take some time out of the race. Focus on winning what is really important. That would be your health, your family and your friends. Take some time for self-care and you will win the race.
Today, instead of focusing on doing a lot, let us focus on doing a few things well. Putting attention into detail instead of putting a million things on our to do list. It will increase our satisfaction and decrease our stress.
It is Tuesday! Instead of adding on to what we have to do or worrying about what we didn’t do on Monday, let’s shed a few things. Let us look for things that are negative in our life and work to limit or eliminate them all together! It could be little annoying things, people or places. If we can’t find a way to change them, can we find a way to change how we view them?
These are good things to consider the second day of the week. Let us find things we can shed from our life to make us lighter and happier. Most important, let us have fun doing it!
Above is a picture from an Ethiopian coffee shop that Margie and I visited the other day. I’ve been drinking coffee for years, Margie had really just started to get into it. We have tried many different kinds of coffee. My personal favorite is Jamaican Blue Mountain. We have never had anything like this coffee before.
Not only was the coffee unique, but they served it with some incense and other details that set it apart. The atmosphere and service in the coffee shop was wonderful. There were small food items to try as well. We relaxed and had a great time.
The point of this post is to remind you of thebenefits of trying something new. Would I switch to this coffee everyday? No. What was nice is having this experience and sharing it with the lady I love. Keep an open mind and try something new in your world. Feel free to share an experience where you tried something new and the joy it brought you.
