DON’T EXPLAIN… JUST BE🤔

Have you ever met someone who is always talking a good game? You know the ones. They know what would make a successful life. They know how to get in shape. They know all about healthy eating. They have great wisdom on time management. It would seem a person like this would need a school to teach in.

When you take a close hard look at their life, you discover that they need a fire extinguisher. Why? Because their life is a total dumpster fire. They are full of wisdom and knowledge, but lack action. Knowledge without action is only potential power. If you know what you should be doing, and you are not doing it, you are actually worse off than the ignorant.

This week, hammer out what your philosophy of life is. Than, don’t waste time telling everyone what it is. Instead, think of ways in which you can embody it. What actions do you think would demonstrate your life philosophy? I would love to hear yours in the comments below.

REMEMBER THIS AS THE WEEK BEGINS 😃

As we begin the week. Let us remember that the future is uncertain. This can seem scary, but it is also a good reminder to focus on the present. In fact, the little influence we have on the future is the actions we take in the present.

As we all want the best future we can have, let us set ourselves up for success by living fully in the present.

IT IS SATURDAY… DON’T FORGET! 🤔

Don’t forget to show your awesome this weekend. Shine like only you know how! Be authentically you. That is what the world needs, more people living life from their heart.

Also, create a space where others feel safe to do the same. Trade judgment for a desire to understand and replace expectations with appreciation. This is the key to a great weekend!

YOU HAVE THE QUANTITY, NOW FOCUS ON THE QUALITY 🤔

It is estimated that we have 60,000 thoughts a day. It may be hard to imagine, but when you think of how much our brain jumps from one thought to the next, it really shouldn’t be. As an author, I think that number might even be double.

This year, let us focus on making a good percentage of those thoughts positive and empowering. According to the national science foundation, 80% of our thoughts are negative. Somehow, that is the human default. Scary part is, 95% of our thoughts are repetitive. If you are keeping score at home, 80% of what we think is negative and we repeat that 95% of the time. Is it any wonder our lives are not ones of overwhelming joy and fulfillment?

This year, take some time, even 5 minutes a day, to relax and focus on something positive. I would recommend starting with things you are grateful for. Then even try adding things you are looking forward to. Let us make this year one where we defy the numbers and have more positive thoughts and repeat them!

THE GIFT 🎁 YOU GIVE YOURSELF

After a season of gift giving, let us not forget about the person in the mirror. One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is to take charge of our own happiness. Too many times we hear people say things like this – “I was having a great day until —-” or “How can I be happy when traffic is bad, my boss is a jerk and the bills keep growing?”

My response to any of this is to ask if you know of anyone who has faced any of these circumstances, often worse ones, and managed to keep a positive disposition? My second book, Living the Dream, has a collection of stories of people who faced much worse than you and I probably will and are some of the most positive people I know.

The Secret they use, and we can too, is to not let our circumstances dictate our happiness. Be determined not to let others, or even life in general, tell you how to feel. Do not give anyone, or anything, that much control over your life! Make happiness an inside job.

WHILE YOU ARE OUT SHOPPING 🛍

Today, in the United States, it is what they call ‘Black Friday’. One of the biggest shopping days of the year. In the past, it was marked with people acting crazy, some even resorting to violence, all in the name of getting a good price on a product. Luckily, that has improved slightly with the online shopping avenue.

Still, as you go out today, remember to be kind. To the workers. They are stressed with being so busy. They are also probably working long hours. There are people shopping who may be feeling sad about being unable to purchase what they really want for their loved ones. There will be people who are stressed because they are just trying to get through the day but it is taking longer than normal because of all the people out and about. Finally, there are people with heavy hearts facing the first holiday after losing a loved one.

You have the power to add a little joy to each of these people’s lives. Use that power today. Each bit of kindness makes the world a better place whether you see it or not.

JUST SOME OF THE BENEFITS

On a day specific for being thankful, we may ask what the big deal is. If you haven’t made gratitude a part of your life, you may not appreciate the benefit. Gratitude makes changes quicker than any other thing I know. Here are just a few of the things that will improve in your life when you begin to focus on what you have to be grateful for.

This can be accomplished by designating as little as 5 minutes a day. This can be done on the way to work. Maybe on the way home? How about right before bed? That will give you some good dreams. If you do it first thing in the morning it will start your day off right. Use Thanksgiving as a day to start this habit for a better life today!

WHAT IS YOURS?

Tomorrow is my favorite holiday – Thanksgiving! It is a celebration of all we are grateful 🙏 for. We can get so fixated on what needs fixing in our lives, we can often overlook what is working.

Today, let’s take a second, at the very least, to look around and take stock of what IS working and what we have to be grateful for. If you were to spend 5 minutes a day on this activity, it will change your life. Living in gratitude has so many amazing benefits it would take another post to list. DON’T trust me on this one. Try it for yourself.
